In lieu of its regular monthly meeting, Writing Space invites you to gather at the Berlind Theatre on Wednesday, February 10 at 4:20 p.m. for a reading presented by award-winning poet Claudia Rankine, followed by a conversation with Tracy K. Smith, director of Princeton’s Program in Creative Writing, which is sponsoring this event.
Rankine has published five collections of poetry, including, most recently, Citizen: An American Lyric, recipient of both the PEN Open Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. According to fellow poet Mark Doty, Rankine’s “fearless” poems “investigate many kinds of boundaries: the unsettled territory between poetry and prose, between the word and the visual image, between what it’s like to be a subject and the ways we’re defined from outside by skin color, economics, and global corporate culture.”
After the reading, you are welcome to proceed to the Nassau Inn for refreshments and conversation. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
