Short and Sweet: Crafting Recommendations Without Succumbing to Exhaustion (Writer’s Toolbox)

Many of us are asked to provide students and colleagues with recommendations. There are few things more rewarding than helping others to advance their careers or take advantage of transformative opportunities, but crafting a compelling endorsement can be challenging, especially when faced with multiple requests. To ease this task, it is critical to develop a well-defined process that does justice to the requestor without unduly impinging on our day-to-day responsibilities. Led by John Weeren, Director of Princeton Writes, this workshop will discuss the characteristics of an effective recommendation and walk you through the process of composing one, including the creation of a template that can serve both you and the recipients of your recommendations well.
